Remnant Layers

Remnant Layers (2023- ongoing) is series of experimental audio documentaries. The first version was exhibited in Zenpukuji Park in Tokyo in 2023 and 2024. The second version was exhibted as part of Kameyama Triennale in 2024. We interviewed locals about how their audio surroundings have changed, and what important ambiences and sounds have been part of their lives. In 2025 it was presented as part of DIG Shibuya at three different loctions in central Shibuya. For it, we interviewed DJs, club promoters and other people, who have an intimate realtionship with Shibuya. We asked them about how the city's audio landscapes have changed, and what they hope for the future of its audio surroudings.

This series of works contineud my interest in understanding how memories, especially those linked to places and objects, are created and stored. It was also an interesting challenge for me, as I hadn't really done much audio works before.
